When removed from the bracket and connected to the auxiliary antenna, the Kannad 406 AP becomes an autonomous survival beacon operating on 3 frequencies (121,5/243/406 MHz).

Automatic Portable ELT: Type ELT(AP).
A variant of the 406AF which includes an auxiliary antenna so the unit can be activated away from the aircraft. Designed primarily for fixed wing aircraft the 406AP can also suit helicopter installation, with the mounting tray fitted 45° nose down.
